Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The
company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa,with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold
fields of Northwestern Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s South east of the nearest point of Lake Victoria. The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and a supporting office in Dar es Salaam. The core aim of this role is to assist the Senior Supervisor in achieving his/her accountabilities by coordinating
the Shift Crews assigned to you, to provide leadership and operational skills to the team for ensuring efficient operation of the Production Operations and its associated infrastructure on a shift basis, by so doing he/she will achieve the set targets in all KPIS. He/she will co-ordinate all activities with regards to Process Plant Production
operations while aiming an optimal plant production within a reasonable cost. He/she will maintain high profile
in the field and hence promotes a safe and productive work environment per company standards..
O- level or A- level certificate or Diploma in Mineral Processing Engineering or BSc. in Mineral Processing
Knowledge of metallurgical processes and how the various units of the circuit operate
Computer literate with MS office skills
5 years of working experience in the Gold Process Plant is essential.
It is also necessary for the incumbent to have experience in the gold production operations
with regards to CIL / CIP processing operations.
• Ensure GGM safety standards, policies & procedures are adhered to all times.
• Monitor and maintain Process plant in accordance with standard guidelines for plant safety, environment,
effectiveness, cleanliness, and appearances.
a) Conduct crew meetings (toolbox) on shift basis
b) Issue and ensure compliance with PPE requirements i.e., control proper use of PPE
Conducting mini risk assessments if non-routine jobs are conducted.
Coordinate team risk assessments
d) Inspect each operating area for housekeeping requirements and direct operating personnel to maintain housekeeping standards.
e)Conduct safety and workplace inspections, including hazard identification,incident reporting and submitting weekly and monthly leading indicators
a) Supervisory responsibility for all labor requirements the relevant shifts,assisting the Senior Supervisor.
b)Coordinate daily manning requirements and associated timekeeping,rostering,attendance, and payroll issues (timesheet,overtimes,call out and acting allowances)
c) Physically report to work on time at their assigned locations, mentoring and training subordinates/new employees on how to operate plant and follow procedures safely.
a) Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the Production team
b) Monitor ROM blends,ore stockpiles, and water and reagent consumption
c)Achieve production targets and ensure; Clear targets set for team on shift basis, this will be done under instruction of the Senior Supervisor. Each operator understands targets and his/her role in delivering on these targets – Quicky and effective response to breakdowns. – Corrective actions to breakdowns are closed through internal resources (Urgent Crew) and escalate to Senior Supervisor Production Operations OR Maintenance where required.
d)Plant parameters control:maintain plant parameters in accordance with daily/standing instructions set by Senior Supervisor or Metallurgist.
e) Breakdown management
Ensure cross-functional communication
Ensure accurate breakdown information is conveyed to both engineering and Production Operations manager.
·Adhere to call-out protocols
– Minimize lead time to have breakdown addressed by appropriate personnel
f) Prepare end of shift production reports accurately and timely.
g)Conduct Shift handover meetings
a) Use of reagents in accordance with Metallurgical Section specifications (ore type based)
b) Ensure effective equipment utilization (running units without feed,damage, optimal usage, etc.).
c) Control PPE issue (prevent abuse of free issue)
·Work in an honest and ethical manner; maintain confidentiality on all business-related matters.
·Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
·Clean criminal record or any other security incident
·Fluency in Kiswahili or English or both
·Strong supervisory and people skills
·Problem solving and analytical skills
·Positive attitude toward work and colleagues.
·Be able to work at minimum supervision
